About

Tired but happy after a short-distance Triathlon!

A little more about me!

I got my MBA at the London Business School in 2005 and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

My professional and educational background are in Finance. I have an undergraduate degree in Finance from Boston College and worked in alternative investments (Venture Capital, Hedge Funds, Fund of Funds and Real Estate) for over 11 years before and after completing my MBA. I worked in San Francisco, in London, in Tokyo, in Singapore, in Hong Kong and in Shanghai. Along the way, I earned my CFA charter (another great program for those interested in MBA studies) as well. I have always found finance and investment fascinating and very much enjoyed my time in the industry.

My family background is, however, in science. I have four older sisters who are all infinitely smarter than I am with PhDs and Master’s degrees in bio-electrical engineering, genetics, immunology, and computer science. My father has a math degree and my mother a bio-chemist. I started life wanting to be an oceanographer! My family members are also all excellent educators, writers and teachers. My first job out of college was teaching English in Japan. Since then, even during my finance career, I have always continued to teach as I really enjoy it. From businessmen, to high-school students, to MBA applicants, I love working with motivated individuals to help them achieve their goals. I especially enjoy working with MBA candidates as they are hungry and fired up to make a difference in the world. I find this energy refreshing and am continually inspired by the people I work with.

In my free time I have always loved reading and writing. My father, as it turns out, became a technical editor and, as the saying goes, “The fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree!” In my current work, helping MBA and other Master Degree candidates edit their application essays, reference letters and CVs, I am able to combine many of the things I am most passionate about, education, business, and writing!

Outside of work, I love running and participating in marathon races. My wife and I have recently taken up triathlon training as well. My swimming is awful at the moment, but I do love the sport and it is one of my life goals to complete an Iron Man race in the future.

Most of all, I like helping people push themselves to achieve things that are really difficult!
